Trans Day of Remembrance

At Life is Work’s Trans Day of Remembrance gathering, Chicagoans came together to remember people lost to anti-trans violence and talk about the work ahead.

I reported and photographed the November 20, 2024 event at Room 43 in Kenwood. The story follows the evening’s speeches, recognition of community leaders and candlelit remembrance. The photographs move between the speakers, the people listening and a spoken-word performance by Trinity Sapphire.
